Hammond House

Hammond House replaces an existing outdated 1930s housing block on the Isle of Dogs and provides 56 new homes ranging from 1 to 5 bedrooms. One of the design challenges was how to provide suitable amenity space for family homes in a multi-storey building in a dense urban development. The design concept provides ground floor maisonettes with private gardens, striking top floor duplexes with roof gardens, and smaller apartments in the middle floors. A highly articulated façade provides a high degree of animation to the street.
