Corduroy House
Corduroy House
Four extensions have been added to the house, a side-return extension to the ground floor, an enlarged rear outrigger at first floor, a rear roof extension and a mansard extension to the main roof. The ground floor is substantially reconfigured, whilst also retaining original Victorian features and decorated with cool greys. Access to the living room is now through an oversized sliding door, with the original corridor being repurposed. The structural glass roof light and large sliding doors to the garden create a light filled kitchen and dining area, which is now the heart of the house. Externally the extension is constructed with ribbed grey brickwork, creating a corduroy effect. The roof extensions are finished in graphite colour zinc. A frameless glass corner window brings sunlight into the new rear bedroom and provides a vista over the rear garden land.
